Year 4 Science in Action

This half term, Year 4 have been learning all about their bodies, with a focus on teeth and how sugary and acidic foods and drinks can affect them.

We’ve explored the different types of teeth and their functions, and discussed how tooth decay can occur. To bring our learning to life, we’ve set up an exciting investigation to find out how sugary and acidic drinks impact tooth enamel.

We made predictions about which liquid would cause the most damage – cola or orange juice! 🥤🍊

To test this, we are using eggs (as they are similar to tooth enamel) and have immersed them in water, fresh orange juice, cola, and blackcurrant squash. We will observe and photograph the eggs over time to see what happens.

We can’t wait to share our results with you soon… watch this space! 👀📸
