‘Hold Still’ Year One!
Yesterday the children took part in the National Oak Academy’s assembly where The Duchess of Cambridge spoke about acts of kindness and wellbeing. We also found out The Duchess and the National Portrait Gallery are hosting the community project Hold Still, where they are encouraging the nation to send in their pictures capturing the spirit, mood, hopes, fears and feelings of the nation as we continue to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak. The pictures taken are to respond to one of the following themes:
- Helpers and Heroes
- Your New Normal
- Acts of Kindness
One hundred shortlisted portraits will feature in a virtual exhibition on the Gallery’s website and a selection of images will also be shown across the UK later in the year.
The Year One children were eager to take part in the competition and so we decided to show the nation what our ‘new normal’ looks like by showcasing our fabulous new walk way into school with the bunting and beautifully decorated rocks. We’re really proud of how well our children have adapted to coming back to school, they are so happy and having lots of fun! Below is our entry.
Welcome Back To West Park Academy
To welcome our children and parents back to school we have asked the children to paint a stone to decorate our new walk way into school. They really brighten up our day!
