Book Week 2023

Book Week 2023

When we return from the half term break we will start the week with a celebration of reading. It provides a fantastic opportunity to focus on reading for pleasure, supporting children's autonomy in book choice, and embedding a habit of reading that brings a wide range of benefits and a lifetime of pleasure.

Over the week we will be completing dance workshops with the West End in Schools on children’s favourite books, bringing them to life. Also drawing workshops and book quizzes with authors on-line. We will be sharing stories throughout the school all week and celebrating the joy that books can bring. We have invited people from across the community to share their favourite books and if you are able, please come into school to share yours too (please arrange directly with the class teacher).

We are also keen to show the children that stories and reading is not just for school so if you have any pictures of yourself reading, please share with us via email so we can showcase this on our website.

On Thursday 2nd March 2023, children to come in pyjamas and bring their favourite bedtime story. On this day, the children will be making their favourite books characters in school and we will showcase all the events on our social media.

Children start their journey with books in the home listening to stories and we in school build on these foundations. The benefits of reading are enormous, please join with us to make this book week a really special one.
